NOT A LAMENT

I shall stay now by the empty air, count the hours and days we need to wait before the square is named again. Fortunately, we are blind, deaf, and can feel nothing at all.

"לא קינה" נכתבה מתוך הכאב הרב שעלה עם הירצחו של יצחק רבין. רבין הווה עבורי (ועבור רבים מאד) תקווה ראשונה לשלום אחרי שנים ארוכות של מלחמות. מותו היה אבל אישי ולאומי והכאב והדכדוך בעקבותיו נמשכו למעלה משנה.

כדרכה של הסתירה התמידית הזאת ביצירותי, גם ב- "לא קינה", פרט לרגע אחד, לכאב אין כל ביטוי ישיר. הטקסט כמעט ואינו צועק או בוכה; הוא בעיקר לא מבין, שואל ותוהה, מנסה לחקור מה שאין לו סיכוי להיות אי פעם מובן. ובכל זאת, בלי לגעת במקומות אמוציונאליים, בין השיטין של מילים מרוחקות וכמו בלתי מעורבות, שזור הכאב כמעט בכל משפט ומשפט.
